The following section describes some of the most common problems associated with man pages, along with information on how to correct these problems.
One common problem is caused from setting the $MANPATH environment variable to an incorrect or missing directory. To resolve this problem, refer to the man manual page.
Another common problem is expecting man pages in non-standard format to be viewable by the man command. To see the formats viewable by the man command, and to learn where the man command looks for man pages in specific formats, refer to the man manual page.
Another common problem seen after a migration installation is that the majority of the man pages text files are empty. Follow these steps to confirm that this situation is causing the problem:
lslpp -f bos.man.en_US.cmds
cd /usr/share/man/info/en_US/a_doc_lib/cmds/aixcmds4
ls -l
To correct this problem, follow these steps:
Install and Update from LATEST Available Software Type or select values in entry fields. Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes.
