"tape not in backup format" Error during Install Using SMIT

Environment

OS Level: AIX Version 4.1.4
Type/Model: 550

Problem

In an attempt to install using SMIT, the error "tape not in backup format" appears.

Solution

If the device name being used is /dev/rmt0, use /dev/rmt0.1 instead.
