Box Drawing Characters not Working in aixterm

Problem

When you run an application that uses box drawing characters (ANSI) from an aixterm, you get garbage characters instead of box characters.

Solution

To workaround this problem, use the aixterm -v.

The reason for this problem is that the old aixterm (3.2.5) used the IBM-850 codeset which allowed the box drawing characters. The new aixterm does not use this codeset, so the box drawing characters are not supported.
